One more than two times, more than a million times, Equity Bank has been accused of fraudulent crimes, from mysteriously vanishing with client’s money to getting unauthorized transactions. Kenya has been earmarked for cybercrime, billions are lost annually but for customer peace, the reports are never made public.
Banks are the worst hit and favorite targets, they’ll never talk about it fir the fear of customer confidence bust. Equity Bank is alleged to be the most porous banks in the cyberspace, having used backdoor and cheapest cyber security specialists in the market,za they’ve been so vulnerable to cyber attacks if we started pointing out, we’ll spend probably a decade on this topic.
The brand has been stank, they needed a rebranding, a new phase and new narrative so they went all out to the usual ineffective route of using ad agencies to cleanse their irredeemable image.
First stop was Andrew White, then washed out PR struggling personality who came up with their previously failed ‘Mimi ni Member’ campaign which despite being popular, didn’t inspire anyone to join Equity Bank.
So now a distrustful environment, Equity Bank came up with yet another rebranding strategy, probably born from endless complaints from the public.
And guess what? They picked up on the same washed out Andrew White to do their rebranding.
Equity is currently being sued for Sh10M’Wingsto fly’ song which was composed by a then 16-year-old creative and now 22 and was illegitimately arrested by the same bank. Court ruled he was right!
If you Google and Twitter search Equity Bank’s new Logo and rebranding feedback, you’ll come back to say how this was one of the biggest scams to the clients. Many views from our previews points at a reality that many people thought it was beneath average, unthought and generally of no value to the client.
Let’s take this into perspective, you personally, do you know of anyone who as been persuaded to join Equity Bank based on the advert? Has the advert changed your mindset given the existing flaws? Do you still trust Equity Bank? If your answer is no then you’re not alone from the many people we’ve talked to.
You must’ve noticed the mainstream media campaigns on this exact topic, ask yourself why Equity or rather Andrew White has to repeat the sam message over with a million influencers pushing the same message. It’s because it’s not working, this the results of using Stone Age strategies to solve new age crisis. As for corporates investing their millions on such, good luck, you’ll be reviewed in such an article. As for Equity Bank and your fake eyebrows rising campaign, it’s a corpse.
